I have Qwest DSL, and an Actiontec GT701-WG wireless router and DSL gateway. Annoyingly, when it gets disconnected from the WAN it stops attempting to reconnect, after some number of tries (perhaps even 0). Twice this has happened on a Friday night or early Saturday morning when I’ve left for the weekend, leaving me without the ability to connect to my mail and web development server all weekend.
I’ve written this Perl script to hopefully solve this problem. I’ve put it in my crontab to run every half hour. I have only tested it with my configuration, so YMMV. Oh, you will also need to edit the script to add your router’s admin password.

I’ve tried “xxx” as the admin password, and it didn’t work. Are you sure the script is right?
:) Didn’t you switch to python? …or is it b/c of work?
